The 32-year-old Manitowoc woman who plead no contest on animal abuse charges has been sentenced.
Jennifer Nettles will spend the next three months in prison, and the two years on probation under the conditions that she pays the court costs, supervision fees and $805 of restitution to the Manitowoc Police Department, provides a DNA sample, and goes to treatment or counseling as deemed appropriate.
If she breaks her probation rules, Nettles will spend an additional 4 months in jail
Jennifer and James Nettles were both arrested in December of 2018 after police found a two-year-old canine dead in their home, and a second dog was found to be extremely malnourished.
Officers reported seeing an extensive amount of animal feces in the residence, and baby toys also covered in the excrement.
A local group protested outside the Manitowoc County Courthouse when James made his preliminary hearing in January of 2019.
