Governor Tony Evers Official Portrait
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers says his “Safer at Home” order goes into effect this morning (Wednesday) at 8:00 a-m.
It will remain in effect for the entire state for 30 days – ending April 24th, unless it is extended.
All Wisconsin residents are ordered to stay at home until their activity is considered essential. Violating the order is punishable by a $250 fine and/or up to 30 days in jail.
More than one dozen businesses have been listed as essential and the governor says anyone traveling to or from an essential business can do so under his order.
Some of the essential businesses include, grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, businesses that produce or transport food and beverages, child care facilities, charitable organizations, media, gas stations and other businesses needed for transportation, hardware stores, laundry services, hotels and motels, home-based care services, and mail and logistics businesses.
