Manitowoc County Board President Jim Brey has canceled tonight’s monthly meeting at the Heritage Center in Manitowoc.
Brey spoke with SeehaferNews.com, and explained that “Governor Evers issued the 50 or more rule…so I decided it was not fair to the public, employees, supervisors or anybody to have that meeting.”
Board President Brey said he will be scheduling a meeting for Tuesday March 24 at 6:30 to discuss items that need to be acted on including the recent declaration from Manitowoc County Board Executive Bob Ziegelbauer declaring a Public Health Emergency. Brey indicated, he supports Ziegelbauer’ s decision, but to make the Emergency declaration official requires County Board approval.
In addition, Brey said the March 24th meeting will not include discussion about the resolution declaring Manitowoc County a 2nd Amendment sanctuary County. The topic will be discussed, it is just not clear when exactly that will happen.
Brey added that citizen input on the Sanctuary Resolution is important and encouraged resident to reach out to their County Board Representative, whose contact information can be found on the Manitowoc County website. Brey said “Don’t be afraid to call.” Even though a lot of the Supervisors have fulltime jobs, Brey said they will get back to you when they can.
Finally, County Board President Jim Brey offered some encouraging words to help residents get through these trying times. He said simply, “Don’t panic. We haven’t reached that stage yet.”
