The Manitowoc Two Rivers YMCA will be closing its facility and all programs beginning on March 18th. The re-opening date is tentatively planned for April 6. A letter to YMCA members reads, “As the largest child care provider in the county, we will be issuing a great many refunds and credits to support our local working families; your uninterrupted membership during this time will help tremendously in mitigating this financial challenge.” It also mentions the option for members to have their fees pro-rated, “Members have the option to have membership fees pro-rated; please email membership@mtrymca.org to make that request.”
The full letter can be read below:
Dear Y Members and Program Participants:
As you are all aware, we are experiencing an unprecedented and rapidly evolving situation that directly impacts the health of our community. As an organization dedicated to promoting healthy living, we have the responsibility to keep as many people healthy and safe from communicable disease as possible.
Because of this, we will follow Governor Ever’s mandate for Wisconsin Public Schools and close the Y facility and all programs beginning on March 18 with the tentative reopening date of April 6. Depending on new developments and how things progress, reopening may be earlier or delayed further; we will keep you posted as we learn more.
As you know, your Y is a non-profit, community service organization committed to improving lives for all. As such, we run a very tight financial ship and reinvest every dollar back into life-enriching programs and services. We are seven months into a budget year that did not anticipate an interruption to the plan at this large of scale and we find ourselves—with you all—navigating new waters. We ask you to kindly consider weathering this time with us as a member committed to a thriving Y— during good times and bad. As the largest child care provider in the county, we will be issuing a great many refunds and credits to support our local working families; your uninterrupted membership during this time will help tremendously in mitigating this financial challenge. Thank you for your consideration.
Members have the option to have membership fees pro-rated; please email membership@mtrymca.org to make that request.
Program participants (including all child care and school-age care) actively engaged in programs at the time of any closures or cancellations will receive a program credit for the balance of their program. For any programs that are paid in full, but have not yet started and will not be held, participants will receive their choice of a program credit or full refund.
Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation during these unprecedented times. Take good care of yourself and one another.
Sincerely,
Board President Carole Witt Starck CEO Julie Grossman
