For the third year in a row, The Haven of Manitowoc County will be hosting the Shamrocks for Shelter fundraiser at Knox’s Silver Valley on Saturday, March 14.
We spoke with Executive Director of The Haven, Michael Etheridge, who told SeehaferNews.com that the premise behind it came from two volunteers who wanted to do a fundraiser that wouldn’t interfere with any other organizations.
Michael explained, “So the month of March, and to have a St. Patrick’s Day party with a bean bag tournament involved started off as an idea, and has formulated into something that has been awesome.”
On top of the bean bag tournament, there are a plethora of gift baskets available to bid on, including the ever-popular booze wagon.
Etheridge also explained that the proceeds will go toward expansion of their program, including their “After Care Program for men who receive case management in their homes and need extra services. It’s a fantastic way to get people together and support men’s homelessness.”
Etheridge mentioned program expansion, he specifically mentioned that they are preparing to house 20 men in need starting July 1st. As of right now, they can care for 15 men at a time. The 2019 Non-Profit of the Year, as awarded by the Chamber of Manitowoc County, is also on the verge of celebrating its 6th year serving Manitowoc County.
Michael will be on the WCUB Breakfast Club Friday morning at 8:30 AM with more information about the Shamrocks for Shelter event.
