
The Mishicot Indians will meet the Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs Thursday Night in a WIAA State Division Four Semifinal at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon.
The Mustangs of the Dairyland Conference are the two seed and have a record of 25-1 having finished runner up to Aquinas of La Crosse the last two years while Mishicot-the three seed at 23-3- are making their first trip to state in school history.
Mustangs Head Coach Joey Arneson says the Indians are a formidable opponent, calling attention to their size, and Junior Kylie Schmidt who leads Mishicot in scoring-rebounding and assists per game. Arneson said “We are gonna be a little outsized in this game. They have a great all-around game, starting with…Schmidt.”
Melrose Mindoro features balanced scoring with four players averaging double figures and over the last four years have a record of 102 and 5.
Mishicot Head Coach Mike Garceau admits his team has a difficult challenge Thursday night but adds he loves this group of players and the community support behind them. Garceau told SeehaferNews.com “When you need to create energy, and you have 500-700 fans in the stands behind you…it only snowballs into good things, we have had that I feel, from day one.”
