Update 3/13/2020: The meeting scheduled for March 21, 2020 has been canceled
A Manitowoc area man has unveiled plans for an arboretum and bird sanctuary at the former Emerald Hills Golf Course on the northside of Two Rivers. John S. Durbrow wants to construct the Van Der Brohe Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary on the former 65-acre golf course property.
A news release indicates the developed site is located in the Lake Michigan Flyway and would provide habitat and forage for both migratory and resident birds of the Lakeshore area. The nature of the arboretum grounds will provide for uses such as a sculpture garden, passive recreation, walking, cross-country skiing, birding, meditation, and other forms of relaxation
If all goes well, construction would begin this Spring with an installation of trails. The plans will be discussed at a meeting in Sheboygan Saturday, March 21st at 1:30 pm at Ellwood H. May Environmental Park 3615 Mueller Road.
