A Manitowoc man was taken into police custody yesterday morning after he pointed a handgun at police.
Officers went to the 62-year-old man’s home in the 1200 block of South 21st Street just before 11:00 AM in an attempt to arrest him on three misdemeanor warrants.
When one officer attempted to get the man to come outside, he flipped him off and grabbed a handgun. He then flipped off a second officer and pointed the gun in his direction.
The officers regrouped and again attempted to get the man to exit the home, but as the officer described in the police report, the man “got into a two-handed shooting stance” although the officer admitted he couldn’t tell if the man had the gun in his hand.
As the officers attempted to make contact with the Captain, the man exited the home and yell “*expletive* shoot me pigs. Kill me.” The man retreated into his home, and the officers left the scene, fearing for the man’s safety.
He was later arrested in the Little Caesar’s parking lot after he was seen riding his bicycle.
The man was taken to the Manitowoc County Jail on charges of Obstructing an Officer, and Endangering Safety by Use of a Weapon.
