An Appleton woman has been sentenced to 17 years in prison after being found guilty of causing the death of her 13-year-old daughter.
39-year-old Nichole Gussert was arrested after her daughter Brianna was found dead in her bedroom on May 29TH, 2017.
Brianna was described as severely disabled and needed assistance throughout her daily life. Brianna was found to be vastly malnourished, and the room she was found in was described by the officer who found her as having a terrible smell, including spoiled food and human excrement.
Gussert apologized right before sentencing, claiming she did not intend for Brianna to die, and the she loved her daughter.
Gussert pleaded no contest to charges of Neglecting a Child, Causing Death, and Possession with Intent To Deliver Amphetamine in February of last year.
