Ascend Services Inc. of Manitowoc received a $10,000 AT&T Foundation Grant Friday morning to support its Program Optimization and Innovation Project.
Ascend Executive Director Deanna Genske said, “The grant was something that we decided to apply for because it really fits in with our mission. Which is to provide opportunities to individuals to enhance their community experiences, education, and employment opportunities. It’s now the backbone of our other workforce solutions program that we just kicked off this year.”
Genske tells Seehafer News that this grant validates their commitment to advancing education and address community needs. “We’re very excited about today’s opportunity to meet with them face to face and to be able to show, not only who we serve but our community that we really believe in being able to offer people choices, opportunities, and education to help them further their work skills so that they can go and get jobs in the community. It’s what it’s all about.”
Several local dignitaries joined AT&T Foundation representatives for the presentation including Mayor Justin Nickels, County Executive Director Bob Zigelbauer, State Senator Devin LeMahieu and Karen Nichols of the Manitowoc County Chamber of Commerce.
