Peggy Lynn Johnson-Schroeder’s body was found in a Racine County cornfield in 1999, and for 20 years she was simply identified as “Jane Doe.”
Investigators were able to finally identify her last November by using genealogy testing. Her body was then exhumed and buried Wednesday morning in Belvidere, Illinois near other family members.
65-year-old Linda Laroche was extradited from Illinois to Wisconsin last December to face charges she killed Johnson-Schroeder, who was 23 at the time.
Laroche is scheduled to make a Racine County Court appearance this week.
