A junior at Manitowoc Lincoln High School is competing in Saturday’s WIAA State Individual Girls Gymnastics Meet at Wisconsin Rapids.
Caroline Ramminger is one of the Division-1 qualifiers for the all-around competition which includes her specialties on Bar & Floor, along with Beam and Vault.
Her coach, Jacque Bartow now in her 24th season of coaching gymnastics, tells SeehaferNews.com she vividly recalls having a conversation with Ramminger prior to the season, where she said “You definitely have a shot to make it to state.”
Bartow said she had to help Caroline wrap her head around that idea because “Last year she was so used to waiting in the wings, kinda hidden by those stellar seniors we had.”
Caroline is a multi-sport athlete, also competing at a high level in Tennis and Golf. She spoke about getting a chance to represent her school and community at State calling it a “really exciting experience” and that she is “very grateful for the opportunity”.
We asked Caroline about her goals entering the state championships. “I just want to go in there with the best attitude,” she explained. “The competition that is there, it will be really tough, but I think I can do very well for my standards.”
Coach Bartow was asked about her advice to her young gymnast and she kept it simple. “Just stay focused, have fun, and soak in that experience.”
The Lincoln Ships team just missed out on going as a whole team, which disappointed everyone, including Caroline, but Bartow said “We are going to go in, have fun, and have a great meet.”
Caroline, the daughter of Kevin and Wendy Ramminger, will also be honored this weekend for being named to the Academic All-State Gymnastics team.
