Update: Enforcement of the Two Rivers Winter Parking ban will remain suspended through March 15, which is the end date for that seasonal restriction.
Manitowoc’s Common Council last fall unanimously passed an ordinance to eliminate the city’s previous overnight winter parking ban where vehicles wouldn’t be allowed to park on any city designated street or route.
Mayor Justin Nickels explained that under the old rules a winter parking ban would come into play anytime there was any snowfall with all streets affected, but the new rules allowed for a tiered system. Only when a major snowfall was forecast to occur would all roads need to be clear of vehicles.
Nickels told SeehaferNews.com that it “Worked out pretty well this year. I heard a lot of people appreciate it, so we will keep that law in the books.”
Two Rivers meanwhile, has suspended their Winter parking ban until 1:30 Monday Morning. City Manager Greg Buckley says they will address lifting it for the rest of the winter in the coming days.
