The Chief Nursing Officer at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center spoke about concerns over the Coronavirus. While admitting that the COVID-19 virus, being new, is important to be aware of, HFM’s Tom Veeser said it appears to be similar in symptoms and management to influenza. “At Holy Family Memorial we have been trending this since early January. We have weekly meetings with our infectious disease unit and some of our medical staff. We keep up to date from the Wisconsin Hospital Association and the State Public Health to ensure we are doing the appropriate surveillance.”
Veeser says they recently reaffirmed many in their front-line staffs on the N-95 masks for testing. “We are validating our supplies and we are encouraging people if they have any concerns to call the Health Department. If they had any symptoms that they wanted to check out, they can call Holy Family at 920-320-2436.”
The bottom line, says Veeser, is the Coronavirus “is something to watch, but not panic over.”
Veeser made his comments on John Jagemann’s “After Further Review” show on WOMT 1240 AM.
