A northeastern Wisconsin man was among the three people killed when a small airplane crashed on the median of an interstate highway near Lincoln Illinois on Tuesday.
According to Illinois State Police, 33-year-old Matthew Hanson of Pulaski died along with 22-year-old Mitchell W. Janssen of Princeville, and 30-year-old Kevin Chapman of Urbana Illinois.
Reports indicate that Janssen was piloting the single engine aircraft when it crashed on Interstate 55 and burst into flames.
The cause of the crash is not yet known but the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
