Greg Buckley
The Two Rivers City Council gathered on Monday and approved a couple of different items.
We spoke with City Manager Greg Buckley yesterday, who recapped the meeting. One of the most pressing items was in regard to the replacement of the recently departed Patrick Gagnon, who passed away last month.
Buckley called his passing a “huge loss for the community”.
The council have decided to appoint John Casavant to the position to serve out the remainder of Gagnon’s term, which ends in April of next year. Casavant was actualy Gagnon’s neighbor and longtime friend and had several years of experience on the City Council.
Another item the Council Voted on was in regard to an upcoming road construction project. They approved a bid to complete a complete reconstruction of a five block area. The project will take place on Madison Street between 19th and 22nd Streets, and on 25th Street between Forrest Avenue to Madison Street.
The cost will be about $1.72 million, which Buckley said is actualy about 15% below an engineer cost estimate.
