Planning has begun for the 2020 Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony in the City of Manitowoc. The parade will be held on Monday, May 25th beginning at 9:00 a.m. The parade route will start at South 8th Street and Washington, continuing on 8th to Huron Street, west on Huron Street turning into Michigan Avenue, and continuing on Michigan Avenue to the Veterans Memorial. The ceremony after the parade typically begins at 10:30 a.m.
The City is reminding those that may want to participate that the Memorial Day parade is to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. Military. “This is not a celebratory parade, and it’s meant to be done in a respectful and honoring way. As a result, there is not any candy distributed at this parade. Instead, we would encourage you to consider distributing small flags to be waved during the parade as it passes by.”
