As time goes by different areas of expertise become more prevalent in society, and the Manitowoc Public School District has updated its course list to accommodate that. We spoke with Superintendent Mark Holsman who said “Lincoln High School especially, has a number of courses they have changed. The purpose of the change is really to meet the needs of the kids, and try to make sure we are providing course work that is interesting, engaging and supportive of what they might want in the future.”
Holsman told Seehafer News about some of the new classes available to Lincoln students. He named classes such as Web page and App Design, Film Studies, Sports Literature, Graphic Novels, Music as Literature, and Mythology, just to name a few. The District had offered Web Design previously but added App Design to the course.
The teachers at Lincoln High School are either in the process of creating or have already created the curriculum for these new classes and have consulted with students to ensure they have created classes they would enjoy.
Holsman said any new class has to be approved by the School Board. The newly added classes will all be available for the Fall semester.
