As people get older, medication may become a part of their daily routine. If someone has several medications to take, it can become hard to remember which pills to take at which time. The Aging and Disability Resource Center in Manitowoc has a tool that you can use to help you keep track of everything, called CompuMed.
Melissa Connup explained to Seehafer News that a CompuMed is “an electronic device you can set up to dispense pills from medication.” An alarm will sound once the medication is dispensed, reminding the patient to take their meds. In order for the alarm, to shut off, the pills have to be removed, and the drawer replaced. Someone will have to set up the device, which can dispense pills up to four times a day. The device comes with everything needed including, the unit, two medication cassettes, the drawer, the key to lock it, and a battery back up which will keep the machine running if the electricity were to go out.
Anyone with any questions about the CompuMed machines can go to the ADRC headquarters, located at 1701 Michigan Ave in Manitowoc.
