25th Assembly District Representative Paull Tittl of Manitowoc says he’s “disappointed” by Governor Evers veto of a $250 million tax cut package passed by the Legislature last week.
In an interview with SeehaferNews.com, Tittl said “The reality is… once the government gets it, it does not become the government’s money. It is the taxpayer’s money…This money is only there because the taxpayers are sending it to Madison.”
The Governor vetoed the measure at an elementary school in Wauwatosa yesterday emphasizing more needs to go towards funding K-12 education and lowering property taxes. Tittl responded, “We recently spent another $500 million in K-12 education, so at this point, I think we need to give the taxpayers their money back. The long and short of it is they deserve it.”
The Manitowoc Republican added, “We have cut taxes by over $10 billion over the past 10 years, and we still have a surplus. I think it’s one of those things where actually need to give the money back to the taxpayers, so I would like to see the Senate override the veto.”
Governor Evers has invited GOP leaders to sit down with him. The Senate reconvenes late next month while the Assembly wrapped up work for the current session last week.
