The City of Plymouth will be voting this evening on a proposed smoking ban within the city.
The proposed measure would disallow smoking or vaping in any enclosed indoor area, on any property owned by the city, and within 12 feet of an entrance to a building owned by the city. People also wouldn’t be allowed to smoke at any sports arena – even if outdoors – and at bus shelters and in mass transit vehicles whether privately or publicly owned.
Bars, restaurants and workplaces would be able to establish outdoor smoking areas that are separated by a reasonable distance from entrances.
On top of that, venues would not be allowed to provide matches or ashtrays.
Citizens will be allowed to voice their input at the beginning of the meeting, which is scheduled to take place at 8:00 this evening. Those who wish to do so are asked to keep their comments to three minutes or less.
