The Brown County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a ‘threat’ made yesterday morning via Snapchat that threatened Bay Port High School.
Bay Port Principal Mike Frieder sent a letter to the families of the students, saying “after discussing the post with the School Resource Officers and the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, they were able to identify the source of the post, and that they are continuing to be in contact with the Sheriff’s Office to offer support as requested.”
Officers & the school worked in cooperation to evaluate the threat and ensure the safety of Bay Port High School and its’ students.
Authorities say the suspect was taken into custody around 5:00 last evening and it was pointed out there were no other persons of interest in the investigation. The case is being referred to the Brown County District Attorney’s Office and the name of the person involved in the threat is not being released at this time.
Authorities are asking parents to talk to their children about the seriousness of threats made on sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
