A total of 17 local and area wrestlers have qualified for the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament at UW-Madison’s Kohl Center. Based on their performances Saturday in Sectional meets those State qualifiers include:
Division-1: Jordan Craft-Manitowoc Lincoln the runner-up finisher at 126 in Ashwaubenon.
Division-2: Matti Bianchi of Two Rivers champion at 138, Bailey Thelen of the Raiders 2nd at 132. Kiel has 3-young men moving onto State: Joah Lund champion at 132, Andrew Schad runner-up at 120 & Jason Klauck a 3rd place finisher at 220. Jack Severin from Kewaunee is a sectional champ at 126 pounds. Denmark has 3 state qualifiers after Ethan Schwartz won the 145 lb weight class, Gabe Wertel is champion at 285. And, the Vikings’ Reece Piontek was runnerup at 152.
Division-3: Mishicot’s Frank Koeppel is a sectional champion at 220 his Indians’ teammate Kolton Tesarik placed 3rd at 145. Brillion had 2-sectional champs on Saturday: Grant Geiger at 113 pounds and Garnett Stebane at 145. The Lions also had 2 thirds with Garrett Kilgas at 170 and Sam Galoff at 195.
