The flu season is well underway, as a Sheboygan Hospital has experience first-hand.
HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital is reporting that they have seen a total of 60 flu cases this year and have had 7 flu-related hospitalizations.
If that seams like a lot, it is.
Compare that to this time last year, when they had only 26 flu cases and 9 hospitalizations.
The hospital implemented visitor restrictions back in early January in an attempt to contain the bug, and to keep their other residents safe.
Chief Nursing Officer Mary Martin says your best defense against the flu is to get your flu shot now. She especially recommends young children, pregnant women, people age 65 and older and those with chronic health conditions get the shot, as they are the most susceptible to the flu.
