The second phase of the Waldo Blvd. Construction Project starts March 2nd. Brian Haen is the Project Manager with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region in Green Bay, and he explained that they will be closing Waldo down between 14th Street to Fleetwood Drive. He said, “There will be access from County R to just before Fleetwood.” Haen tells SeehaferNews.com that part of the $12.3 million project will include the replacement of the deck on the bridge over the railroad tracks. He said they are “taking out the existing railroad tracks…and then the water sanitary, storm, sewer and all the underground utilities are being replaced along with the roadway and sidewalks.” Some trees will also be removed in the process. Construction will also consist of a new box culvert near Fleetwood Drive and asphalt overlay from County R to near Fleetwood Drive.
Of those attending a public construction meeting Wednesday night at City Hall, Haen said the biggest concern was how those living along that stretch would be affected as far as getting to their home. Hean explained “We work with the contractor, the contractor works with the residents. They give them notice when they are going to be paving…It’s easy to work with the residents and the contractor to work out how they are going to stage the work so everything goes as smoothly as possible.”
Work is anticipated to be completed sometime in November.
