Ascend Services has teamed up with Tapped on the Lakeshore for a fundraising event on Saturday.
The event is entitled “Throw with All Your Heart” and will feature one of the most unique opportunities on the Lakeshore, axe throwing.
SeehaferNews.com spoke with Ascend Executive Director Deanna Genske, and she explained that they will be holding Team Throwing Olympics but will also have several local celebrities that those in attendance can throw against. The list of celebrities includes LTC President Paul Carlson, Sheriff Dan Hartwig, Manitowoc City Alderman, and County Board Chairman Jim Brey, and local musician and member of the County Board Biff Hansen.
Deanna said that the team at Ascend Services was trying to think up a good fundraising event and reached out to the Owner of Tapped on the Lakeshore, Craig Pautz, who was immediately on board.
There will also be things to do for those who don’t want to throw an axe. Genske said, “We are also going to have mini-games…and of course a fun 50-50 throughout the day. We also have just regular raffles that will be happening. We will also have Wrap It Up, who will be serving hot wings and cold wraps.”
All proceeds will go directly back to Ascend Services, so they can continue to pursue their mission, which is to promote individual growth for adults with disabilities, by providing community experiences, education and employment opportunities.
