The leader of the Forest County Potawatomi Community used the annual State of the Tribes speech today (Tuesday) to call for everyone to work together to cut opioid abuse. Chairman Ned Daniels Junior says the issue is key to our children and grandchildren. He says the opioid epidemic has no regard for age, race, gender or income. Daniels also called for more action to protect natural resources. He thanked the assembly for their work to address the various challenges and their dedication to improving the state. Daniels says he knows that it is easy to give up when faced with difficult problems, but says “we must not give complacency a home in which to grow and spread to the poison of inaction.” He says the success of the tribal nation and all state residents depends on their resilience to continue to tackle critical issues.
