
Four lakeshore area students and three teachers have been named recipients of awards from the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation. A selection committee gives awards in the amount of $6,000 to 100 teachers, 16 principals, and their schools and $10,000 scholarships to 193 graduating high school seniors. One of the Student Excellence Scholars is Nicholas Welnetz of Roncalli. While the ‘3’ Student Initiative Scholars are going to Myleah Keller of Manitowoc Lincoln, Caroline Berge of Valders and Elliot Kelpinski from Brillion High School.
The 3 Teacher Fellows from the area include Tracy Bauer of Mishicot, David Friend of Kiel and Michael Retzinger of Manitowoc who’s employed by the Kohler School District.
The Kohl Educational Foundation regional winners will be honored during a noon luncheon and award program at West De Pere High School on Sunday, May 3rd.
