United Way Manitowoc County is excited to announce the launch of this tax season’s MyFreeTaxes.com site. For the eleventh year, United Way and H&R Block have partnered to provide H&R Block Online tax filing software, accessible through MyFreeTaxes.com, to help taxpayers easily and accurately file their simple taxes from their computer, tablet or smart phone – for free.
New this year, taxpayers of ALL income levels can file simple federal and up to three state tax returns for free through MyFreeTaxes.com. With MyFreeTaxes, filers have both the support of a proven software provider in H&R Block, as well as in United Way, an organization that is committed to fighting for the financial stability of every person in every community.
Key features of MyFreeTaxes includes screens for credit and deduction eligibility, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC), to ensure filers receive their maximum tax refund. The tool also offers filers the ability to upload an image of their W-2, allowing MyFreeTaxes to automatically fill in their tax information. Most filers complete their taxes in under an hour and save an average of $200 in fees by using MyFreeTaxes over a paid tax preparer. If any questions arise while using MyFreeTaxes, filers have 24/7 assistance within the software from a virtual assistant.
