A two-car accident just east of Appleton has left an elderly won dead.
The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office reports that the woman apparently did not see a stop sign at the intersection of Eisenhower Drive and State Highway 10/114 in the Village of Harrison at around 2:00 yesterday afternoon and went through the intersection.
Her sedan was then struck by an SUV being driven by a middle-aged man from the Manitowoc area. The woman from Harrison died before rescue crews could arrive. The other victim was treated at the scene and released.
The names of the victims are not being released at this time, and investigators are still trying to determine why the woman failed to stop at the stop sign.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by Harrison Fire/Rescue, Harrison First Responders, the Wisconsin State Patrol, Gold Cross Ambulance, the Calumet County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Calumet County Highway Department.
