A Roncalli High School and Air Force Academy graduate brought a message of service over self to students at his alma mater yesterday.
Jim Oswald, a member of the 1976 graduating class, spoke to an all-school assembly during the noon hour in the Zimmer Auditorium.
Oswald later spoke with SeehaferNews.com about the theme of his speech. He said he tries to “Lead the life that God has asked us to do as a follower. Service before self, which was reinforced in the military.”
One of the things Oswald is most proud of during his military career is his work on the F-16 program with the Air Force, which was going through a fly off to replace the F-4.
“It was the first single engine fighter aircraft in our inventory,” Oswald explained. “I had the opportunity to address some of the challenges we had with getting a single engine aircraft up there with enough power to cover great lengths. Then to also deploy this aircraft across the globe to very difficult situations.”
Jim was able to return to Manitowoc over the weekend for a visit with his mother, Ginny Oswald, and linked-up with his basketball coach from high school, Jim Kersten. In fact, Kersten presented Oswald with a Roncalli shirt and cap at the assembly, following his presentation to students and Staff.
Jim currently resides in Crossville, Tennessee where the founder and president of JEO Enterprise Solutions, LLC, ‘continues to give-back as a volunteer’ to organizations like Imagination Library, a Christian Counseling Center, Hospice Care, Wounded Warrior Project and Bread of Life.
