
The lakeshore area is doing a cleanup this morning following a fast-moving snow system Sunday.
Snowfall began around mid-morning yesterday and continued at a rapid rate through much of the afternoon.
The official snowfall figure here at our Seehafer Broadcasting studios was 7.25 inches while other reports phoned into us were 7.5 inches in Whitelaw and 8-inches southwest of Manitowoc, at Osman.
Mayor Justin Nickels yesterday declared a snow emergency last night and an overnight winter parking ban on all city streets.
As for Manitowoc County roads this morning Highway Commissioner Marc Holsen said “as of about 7am, there were a few icy stretches countywide, although as the sun rises, we anticipate a successful cleanup effort.”
As for driving Sunday, Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office Major-Operations Jason Orth tells SeehaferNews.com that his officers responded to 12 vehicles in the ditch and one property damage crash.
