A 26-year-old Valders man will be spending the next 20 years of his life in prison after he took a minor across state lines, sexually assaulted her, and possessed child pornography.
Zachary S. Gauthier plead guilty to all of the charges in federal court and will also be on extended supervision for 20 years after his release.
Gauthier was arrested in Alabama after an FBI and U.S. Marshals Office investigation found he had taken a 15-year-old Valders girl, and his 7-year-old daughter to the state.
Reports indicate that throughout the trip, Gauthier would sexually assault the teenager, and knowingly searched for, downloaded and possessed child porn on his cell phone.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig praised the work done by the local, state, and federal agencies in catching Gautier.
