
Students and staff at Holy Family College in Manitowoc took Thursday off to participate in their Third annual “HFC Serves Day of Service.”
HFC President Dr. Robert Callahan spoke with SeehaferNews.com while out at Peter’s Pantry and explained that “The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity founded our college on the four Franciscan Catholic Values of Community, Compassion, Reverence for All of Creation, and Peacemaking. They wanted all of our students not only to learn about these core values, but to live them.”
Dr. Callahan spoke about his time serving at Peter’s Panty, and how amazed he was by how gracious and thankful they are about how well the community supports them.
“It’s just a shining light for our entire community, the work that’s going on here.” he said.”I’m just touched and amazed by that.”
Other locations benefitting include River’s Bend Health Services, The Lakeshore Humane Society Shady Lane, The Crossing, The Salvation Army, The Haven, Hope House, InCourage, The Senior Center, The Miracle League of the Lakeshore, The Rahr West Art Museum, Lakeshore Community Health Care, St. Vincent de Paul, Painting Pathways Felician Village and the Manitowoc Public Library.
Former NFL Player Harry Sydney the Third, who spent time in Green Bay as a player and coach, spoke to students and staff.
Sydney makes his home in Green Bay and founded a non-profit organization “My Brother’s Keeper” a male mentoring program in Green Bay.
They have helped thousands of boys and men find success in dealing with the hardships in their lives by providing them the knowledge and skills to make positive changes by redirecting their thought process.
