The Manitowoc man who is facing charges after a three-year-old child died while in his care has entered an Alford plea.
48-year-old Eduardo Gamez and 39-year-old Jamie Shrank were arrested in July of 2018 after the child died and was seen to have internal and external injuries.
Entering an Alford plea allows Gamez to maintain his innocence while also pleading no contest. This is basically the defendant admitting there is enough evidence to convict, but they still claim to be innocent.
Gamez is facing charges of Suspicion of Child Abuse, two felony Counts of Chronic Child Neglect, and one felony count of Possession of Methamphetamine, with the latter three charges dismissed but read into the records.
Gamez will be back in Manitowoc County Circuit Court on April 22nd.
