Sponsors in the Wisconsin Assembly have introduced legislation to increase the fines and jail time car thieves could get. Law enforcement authorities are dealing with continued vehicle thefts in the southern part of the state. One part of the bill would require juveniles who steal a vehicle or who are riding in a stolen vehicle to serve a minimum of 30 days in some kind of detention facility. Current state law doesn’t require juveniles to be subject to sentencing requirements in the criminal code.
