Sixth District Congressman Glen Grothman had plenty to say about President Trump’s State of the Union Speech Tuesday night.
The Glenbeulah Republican, who serves Manitowoc County in his constituency spoke with SeehaferNews.com telling us he’s pleased that the President highlighted the success of the economy but was extremely gratified on quote “his (the President’s) many other accomplishments” especially on curbing immigration.
“He’s finally cutting off this endless stream of people,” Grothman said. “He did it by reaching negotiations with the Mexican government, reaching negotiations with Central American government. Things he had to do, quite frankly, without any help from Congress.”
Grothman plans on taking a trip to the Arizona-Mexico border later this month.
Many are talking about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ripping up her copy of the speech behind President Trump’s back and throwing it on the table.
Grothman was “disappointed” this act.
“When you have the leader of the Democrat leadership rip up the speech and throw it down, it shows what we are up against when we try to get anything through the House of Representatives.”
The local legislator commented on President Trump’s acquittal on both impeachment articles by the U.S. Senate yesterday as well, praising the President for not dwelling on it during his State of the Union.
Now he said it’s “Time to get down to business.”
