The board of directors for Milwaukee’s 2020 Democratic National Convention Host Committee has fired its two top leaders.
President Liz Gilbert and her chief of staff, Adam Alonso, had been accused of creating a toxic work environment for women in the busy office.
A group of women staffers had sent an unsigned letter to the board saying they were being “bullied and intimidated” by Alonso – and they accused Gilbert of doing nothing to put an end to it.
Alonso has denied the allegations.
The committee they were leading has six months left to raise $70 million for the July event and hire 15,000 volunteers.
