High school students from Washington, Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, and Ozaukee Counties are invited to participate in the 1st Annual Community Youth Voice Conference (CYVC) taking place March 14-17, 2020 at UWGB-Sheboygan Campus.
Youth participants will speak up about current issues communities. Topics for the 2020 CYVC include Post-secondary Gaps; Youth Engaged Elections; Healthy Relationships for Teens; and Aging Friendly Communities.
“Kids don’t think that adults want to hear from them,” says conference director and UW-Madison Extension Professor, Sarah Tarjeson, “but we not only want to, we need to.”
Collegiate Roundtable Facilitators will help participants develop a presentation with others on each topic to share with people like the County Clerk, staff from Safe Harbor, partners from INSPIRE Sheboygan and Washington Counties and the Sheboygan ADRC.
For $200 each youth can participate in the conference which includes lodging at Sheboygan’s Blue Harbor Resort, transportation during the conference, meals and all activities throughout the experience. Those who are interested in this opportunity can visit sheboygan.extension.wisc.edu/community-youth-development/ for more information and to register.
This year’s Collegiate Roundtable Facilitators are: Teresa Parrish, Harly Lentz, Alexis Luedtke, and Emily Torkelson
