Wisconsin coach Greg Gard says he strongly disagrees with the Big Ten for suspending Brad Davison one game for an alleged hit to the groin in Monday’s loss at Iowa.
Davison was assessed a flagrant 1 foul for making contact with the thigh of the Hawkeyes’ Connor McCaffrey.
Gard agreed it was flagrant foul, but said” I feel at that point in time it should’ve ended and dropped.”
Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren said,“We will not tolerate behavior that compromises the health and safety of our student-athletes or crosses the line of aggressive, competitive play, especially when a pattern of similar behavior has been previously established.”
Gard didn’t agree with the statement about Davison’s pattern of behavior, and said “I will vouch for his character until the day I die.”
The Badgers will try to turn things around when its hosts Michigan State Saturday.
The Badgers have lost three of their last four games, and leading scorer Kobe King has left the team.
One of the defeats was a 67-55 loss at Michigan State January 17th.
Coach Gard’s team is 12-and-9 overall and 5-and-5 in the Big Ten Conference.
The Spartans are 15-and-5.
