A Dunn County judge will not grant a new trial to a Russian immigrant convicted of killing three people on Interstate 94 in 2017.
40-year-old Serghei Kundilovski filed a motion to withdraw his guilty pleas of first-degree reckless homicide by intoxicated use of vehicle – but it was denied Thursday.
Kundilovski was sentenced to 75 years for the deaths of three Minnesota men in a wrong-way crash after huffing aerosol cans.
His attorneys argued he should be able to withdraw his pleas because he didn’t understand the consequences of the plea deal and only speaks broken English.
The state said a Russian interpreter was present at the time.
