A 45-year-old Manitowoc man was arrested late Thursday night at a southside residence. James H. Karls faces charges of Possession of Child Pornography and Sexual Exploitation of a Child.
A city police detective received a cyber tip showing the suspect had discussions about buying child pornography for $75.00 while discussing having sexual contact with another child.
Authorities say the IP address for the user, returned to the 1000 block of South 21st Street. A warrant was executed at the address at about 11 pm, when a review of the data from Tumblr & Google.com returned 40 images of child pornography on the accounts.
The computer devices were seized during the execution of the warrant.
Bail was set at $3,000 cash. Conditions of bail are that Karls be prohibited from any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18 and report to the Manitowoc Police Department for photos-prints and identification within 72 hours of release. He remains in the County Jail with an initial appearance scheduled for February 10th at 1:30.
