For the third year in a row, The Haven Men’s Homeless Shelter is preparing for their Shamrocks for Shelter fundraising event.
The Haven has been serving Manitowoc County for the past five years, helping men who are down on their luck get back on the right track.
Michael Etheridge from The Haven was on the WCUB Breakfast Club recently, and he said that the event will be taking place on March 14th at Knox’s Silver Valley.
Festivities will begin at 11:00 AM, including a beanbag tournament.
Last year they had 25 teams participate, but are aiming to up the ante to 30 teams this year.
Etheridge explained that many teams “just showed up” last year, and Michael said that is perfectly acceptable, but “they wouldn’t get the t-shirt or team bag they would get if they pre-registered.”
Returning to support the event will be Riley Haupt and the Charlie Bucket Band, who will be providing musical entertainment.
There will be plenty of other things for people to enjoy as well. Etheridge said there will be “bucket raffles, silent auction items, and the booze wagon will be there.”
The items on the auction block were all donated from businesses and individuals in places all over eastern Wisconsin.
All of the money raised from the event will go right back to the Haven, so they can continue to serve Manitowoc County.
