Senior guard Sacar Anim scored 28 points Wednesday night as Marquette edged Xavier in a double-overtime thriller 84-82.
Xavier led a good portion of the second half but spent most of the second overtime clinging to a small lead.
Anim was the only Golden Eagle connecting with any frequency from outside the arc, hitting 5-9 from 3 point range. The rest of the team was 4-19.
Markus Howard and Koby McEwen scored 18 apiece.
Even though Marquette (15-6, 5-4 Big East) was the road team, it won the game at the free-throw line 25-11. The Musketeers shot only 44 percent on free throws.
The Golden Eagles host DePaul Saturday at 1:00 P-M.
