Years of toxic materials and pollutants will be cleaned up from the three rivers which flow through Milwaukee.
Some details of a $29 million project taking eight years were announced Tuesday.
The work starts will soil testing, remediation and removal.
Local officials are promising the environmental impact will be immense.
In addition to cleaning the Milwaukee, Kinnickinnic and Menomonee rivers, work could include boardwalks, piers and improved fishing opportunities.
