In the face of a youth vaping epidemic, is Wisconsin doing enough? The American Lung Association says no. In fact, they claim Wisconsin’s not doing much at all.
In their 18th annual “State of Tobacco Control” report, the American Lung Association outlines a road map for federal and state governments to fully address this epidemic and reduce and prevent all tobacco use.
States are graded (from A to F) on their efforts to protect kids and public health by enacting policies proven to reduce tobacco use, and Wisconsin failed on several fronts.
Tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death and disease in the United States, killing 480,000 people each year.
The United States is also facing a youth e-cigarette epidemic, with e-cigarette use increased by a staggering 132% among high school students from 2017 to 2019, with more than 1 in 4 kids vaping.
