After 11 years, the word is out, people are now saving their clothes and school supplies.
That statement from Mike Lambert, President of the Manitowoc based Americans Serving African Children organization.
He even said that one young lady donated 125 hats, that she knitted herself.
“We have organizations that are making balls and blankets,” Lambert told SeehaferNews.com. “It’s really fun to see the generosity, the spirit of people coming in.”
The 11th annual ASAC Pancake Breakfast and Clothing Drive took place on Sunday in the basement of St. Francis of Assisi School at 14th and Waldo.
Lambert says they have a connection with the Salvatorian Mission Warehouse in New Holstein, explaining that the Manitowoc organization sends their donations to the New Holstein based group, who “fill an entire shipping container” and send it over to Africa to their missions, who then distribute it to the people who really need it.
It is a labor of love for Mike and Mary Lambert who, after witnessing the very poor conditions firsthand, adopted two young Ethiopian boys years ago.
Tomerot and Chombi are now post High school age.
