A 32-year-old Manitowoc man accused of stealing a gun used in a Fox Valley shooting last summer, appeared for a bail hearing this afternoon in Manitowoc County Circuit Court. Russell A. Jackson Norwood was taken into custody Thursday at his South 20th Street residence and is charged with suspicion of receiving stolen property and a felon in possession of a firearm. In addition, he faces multiple drug charges which include keeper of a drug house, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, four counts of delivery of fentanyl and two counts of delivery of heroin for which $25 thousand cash bail was set by the court. Additionally, a $5000 recognizance bond was issued on the firearm charge.
Police responded last June to a burglary in the 1000 block of Marshall Street where several items contained in a safe were stolen including a 9 mm handgun and 50 rounds of 9 mm ammunition. During their investigation-officers discovered that in July the suspect attempted to sell that same handgun in Appleton that was involved in a shooting July 16th. Authorities there say that the weapon was recovered however Jackson-Norwood was not one of two individuals involved.
Conditions of bail include having “no contact” with any of the victims or anyone at the South 20th Street residence, maintain absolute sobriety and provide photos and prints at the Manitowoc Police Department upon release. He remains in the County Jail with initial appearances on both matters scheduled for February 3rd at 1:30.
