Governor Tony Evers is calling on lawmakers to hold a special session Tuesday to consider an $8.6 million package to help Wisconsin farmers.
The eight bills include measures to bolster mental health services, increase dairy exports, and hire agriculture experts to assist farmers with business practices.
Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said in a statement that the chamber won’t be on the floor but the bills will be referred to committees for hearings.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said legislators would work with Evers to protect and advance agriculture.
Evers signed an executive order Thursday forming a panel to promote agriculture, called the Blue Ribbon Commission on Rural Prosperity.
