Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers visited the Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center near Newton yesterday afternoon.
The topic was the issue of problems in Wisconsin agriculture. Evers said he had taken action intended to help the agriculture industry.
He told SeehaferNews.com that he “Signed an executive order telling the legislature to come in for a special session next Tuesday to start talking about these challenges.”
Republican legislative leaders have said the proposals will be assigned to committees.
Evers said they include establishing a Wisconsin Institute for Dairy Exports, setting up incentives and grants for farmers who want to expand into processing, and making the resources of the state’s Farm Center more readily available.
He also proposed adding more extension agriculture agents.
